while growing up in albuquerque, new mexico, i was an avid equestrian. today, the calmness i found riding horses in the open spaces of new mexico is what i find on my yoga mat & it is that peace I hope to share with my students. i began practicing yoga in 2000, & since my daughter was born in 1998, I had not yet discovered how yoga would enhance my pregnancy. when my son came in 2003, i knew i wanted to share this with other women. watching the grace of the pregnant women in my classes has given me more peace in my practice and teachings as well. students of all ability levels often say my soft-spoken manner & gentle guidance allows them to feel welcome in my class.
it is heartwarming that many of the mothers from my prenatal classes return for my classes for mothers & babies. i love helping mothers connect with their babies through yoga and i love watching babies & children respond to its soothing calm and peacefulness. i wanted to expand my ability to assist women in the journey of pregnancy, labor, birth & motherhood so i embarked on my education & training as a birth doula. it has been a meaningful & powerful journey & i have finally found my passion in assisting women through the full spectrum of well care from pregnancy to recovery in the postpartum period. after working for more than 15 years in the corporate world, i now dedicate myself full-time to supporting women through their pregnancy, labor, birth & postpartum recovery by teaching prenatal & postpartum yoga, well care workshops, & by offering birth support.
